About I Want PDF
Who We Are
I Want PDF was founded with a straightforward goal: to remove the security risks, paywalls, and friction of everyday document management. Built by an independent team of web engineers and privacy advocates, our platform provides lightweight, in-browser document tools available completely free of charge.
Why We Are Different: The Privacy-First Architecture
For years, using an online PDF tool meant uploading personal contracts, financial statements, and confidential papers to remote cloud servers. We designed I Want PDF around a different model: local client-side execution.
Our verified tools run directly in your web browser utilizing modern web standards including:
- PDF-Lib: In-browser object-tree parsing, page merging, reordering, watermarking, and structural manipulation without network calls.
- Mozilla PDF.js: Client-side canvas rasterization, text layer extraction, and font token decoding.
- HTML5 Canvas & Blob APIs: High-DPI signature rendering, image encoding, and instant download generation.
Because the code runs in your browser tab, your files never travel across the internet to our servers.
Our Current Roadmap
We currently provide 16 verified, fully client-side tools. To remain 100% faithful to our privacy guarantee, advanced features that traditionally require server-side software (such as complete Microsoft Office conversions and heavy multi-lingual OCR) are undergoing in-browser WebAssembly (WASM) compiler development and will launch as true offline tools.
